I write a lot of articles about how to start a home based business on the internet with the carboncopypro internet marketing business and have recently put together this article, as part of a series of reviews showing you how to market a business on the internet using a variety of different ideas, tools, techniques and strategies.

This is an introduction to marketing your internet based business on MySpace. If you still haven't learned how to start an internet business read this article to give you a few useful ideas. The first step? set up an account on MySpace.

If you're considering building an internet business with CarbonCopyPro or any other home based business then here is a quick guide to get you started. Follow this simple five step plan and you will quickly find that building an internet business can be more fun than effort if you do it right, so relax, sit back and pour yourself a cup of coffee, as I walk you through the steps to building a business on MySpace.

1. Have You Got The Look?

Set up an attractive, compelling profile to help you stand out from the crowd and make that first impression count. There are several ways you can do this from designer profile skins and themes to a unique photograph on a cool, minimalistic design.

Whatever you decide make it you and keep it in the same tone as your other social media profiles, so same picture and biography is important to create branding and leave a mental picture on your visitors mind. Remember, the person who drops onto your MySpace page is likely to have viewed hundreds or even thousands of other pages and if yours is going to stand out as memorable it has to make the right first impression.

2. Talk the Talk (even if you're not yet walking the walk):

Introduce yourself to your potential customers or business partners and make that introduction count! People join people when deciding to build a business online or off, they don't join companies and they dont join compensation plans.

Some of the people you meet may already have their own small business on the internet and you can exchange ideas about marketing online to benefit both of your businesses in some way.

In fact, whatever industry you are working in, it's essential to position yourself as a market leader and industry expert to attract interest and create a profile that people will remember and come back to, so building a good profile and connecting with the right people is vital to your success.

When setting up your profile on MySpace add a short, punchy bio to give your audience a picture of who you are, who you are not and what you can do for them if they tag along. Here's a quick example of what you might want to say (amend at will..)..

"Hi, I'm (name here)... glad to see you here on my page. My team and I provide industry leading space suits and have been featured on Mars, Pluto and Uranus in the last six months. Take a look at the link to my site below for further information and a sneek preview of the latest Moon Boot design".

It's important to be honest and not try to trick people into visiting your website or they will quickly bounce off and you'll never see them or hear from them again, but don't be afraid to sell yourself a little without coming across as arrogant.

3. Tell Your Story.

This is where social media meets real life. As a species we want to know a little about each other before we buy from one another. Think of your favourite clothes store you use on a monthly, weekly or even daily basis. At first, you bought from the owner maybe occassionally but then as time went by and you heard his or her story or the story of the clothes he or she now sells, their benefits and what they might do for you, you began to visit more frequently. After all, we all want to look slimmer, younger, more attractive and that's what this place might do for you isn't it..?

The page you set up and the story you tell on MySpace is no different. In fact, it's even easier to create that story and manage it so that your visitors will want to hear more about you as they take the time to come back and view your page again and again. Tell your story and reap the rewards.

4. Offer a solution.

People want to know what happened to you and how you turned your life around and more importantly how it might be for them. Can they follow your path and find their own success story? Will their life turn around if they take those same simple steps that you took? Do you have the solution they are searching for?

With so many people now searching for a way out of debt, the opportunity to build a successful business online is something more and more people are looking at. In fact, every 11 seconds someone will start a home based business, so take the time to paint a clear picture of your solution, what your online business can do for the person who chooses to work with you.

5. Qualify and Call To Action

When you first start to build a business online, it's easy to think that everyone and anyone would be right for you to work with. After all, it's working for you, you believe in the company, the business model seems fantastic and the potential income is amazing, so why wouldn't it be right for everyone?

Well, the truth is that NOT everyone is cut out to work for themselves. Advertising and building your business using internet marketing tools and techniques takes time, focus and dedication and not everyone is cut out for the life of an entrepreneur. Entrepreneurs are a different breed, they work when others fall asleep, they hustle when others are watching the TV and they battle through the pain barriers it takes to build a business online, never giving up and never saying never.

The people you want to work with are these people. Entrepreneurs. Some will already know what they want and others will need some guidance but they will work with you and stick with it to make it work, so don't waste your time on time wasters. Add a short, pre-qualifier to your bio statement along the lines of..

"This is a tough business and one which the vast majority of people will fail to succeed in. The rewards are lifechanging for the few who have what it takes to learn how to build a business online though and with so little time available to work with my team, I'm unable to answer lengthy questions and emails about my business model. Do a little research and if you like what you see, get back to me and we'll discuss how we might work together"

It's important to let people know exactly what you want them to do next. Don't expect your page visitors to understand that the information you have presented in front of them is there to advertise your business or they might just miss it. Add a short line something like.. "while you're here why not take a quick trip to my website RIGHT HERE (insert a link to your domain in the capitals) and let me know what you think of the business opportunity available.

MySpace is  a great place to advertise your internet marketing business at no cost. But remember this;

MySpace is a social networking site when all said and done and not an internet marketing free for all. Even if you believe you have the best internet business on the planet, not everyone thinks the same way when presented with a link to your website slapped across their profile page.

Take your time building your business on the internet and acquire the knowledge to make marketing online fun for everyone and ultimately profitable for you!
