Selling Skills For Online Success
61Selling online is far easier than most people think or indeed say. Whether you're selling your house, a car, your virginity all over again, or the next door neighbours breast milk to bring in a few extra dollars the answer remains as it always did; where there is a will, there is a way.
Let's face it, most of the internet marketing products and tools and best selling software are sold to you today are promoted in one shape or form to help you to make more sales but in reality very few will actually improve the sales process for you. If you've been online a while or even if you are brand new to the internet and people are still using that horrible term "newbie" in your presence, you may already be starting to feel a little unnerved by everything that's out there and by what looks like a never ending sea of information. If that sounds familiar then this article may just shed a little bit of light on the whole process of selling online. Lets see.

Follow these three steps to increase sales and maximize your profit when buying and selling online...
Step 1
Market research. Just as you would with offline sales, it's essential to look at the marketplace and ask a few questions before jumping in with what you believe to be the answer to everyone's dreams. Check out forums and social networking sites to see what people are talking about and ask questions about the topic being discussed to see if there is a gap in the market for your product or idea.
If there is no market, there is no sale to be made but if there is a market ready for your product or service then you will have a much greater idea of what the need actually is and be more able to position your product with a unique selling point.
Step 2
Build an audience within your marketplace. Nobody likes to be sold and believe me it's even more painful online when some fool decides to jump onto your facebook wall and slap a link to their next best thing or some offer that they simply had to pass on to you before they died. Sounds familiar?
Find your customers through forums, social networking sites and groups and talk to them about what interests them. Tell them a little about yourself and place a link on your profile to your website or offer so that anyone interested can choose to view your product or service in their own time. This will happen and you will find the less you sell the more sales you will make.
Step 3
Once you have a customer keep them! Sounds simple when you say it out loud but how many times do you see people turn their backs on their current customers and look for new ones? It's no different online and a good customer is hard to come by so when you have one keep him or her! If you haven't already done so, start an email newsletter from your blog to keep people updated or set up a facebook group to keep in contact with new and old customers at the same time. Remember, though, don't sell. Update and offer information and let your customers make their own minds up and the sales will follow.
Selling is a craft which is mastered over time. Whether you sell online or off there are certain steps to take to increase sales and become a master craftsman. The above steps will give you an outline of what you should and should not do to ensure that every sale you make is painless for you and your customer. Now get out there and make some sales!
